Mr. G.Pustovitov in his capacity as CARICC director attended “Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process” Joint Regional Conference on Counter Terrorism and Counter Narcotics held in Almaty on 22 July 2019.
Conference participants represented anti-drug and foreign policy authorities of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, the United States of America, Turkey, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan along with a number of international organizations such as UNODC, OSCE, CARICC and CICA.
The conference discussed current situation with regard to drug trafficking and terrorism in the region and regional efforts to combat those threats as well as challenges and prospects of a regional strategy to combat illicit financial flows and financing of terrorism.
Outcome of the conference will serve as a basis for further work to create working mechanisms to strengthen regional cooperation in relevant areas of counter terrorism and drug control.
Mr. Alexay Rogov, Deputy Director of the Department of New Challenges and Threats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, was introduced with CARICC work following the conference.
