Meeting at CARICC

CARICC Director Atageldi Yazlyyev met with Kaspars Valpeteris, Regional Coordinator of the EU Action Against Drugs and Organised Crime (EU-ACT) in Almaty on 7 August 2024.

Second phase of the EU-ACT 2 project, launched in June 2023, will last 4 years and is being implemented by a consortium of European countries including Spain, France and Italy.

K.Valpeteris informed that EU-ACT 2 project objective is to ensure implementation of EU interests in the field of security in Central Asia in close cooperation with international partners and competent authorities of the countries in the region.

The project aims to build capacity of law enforcement agencies to exchange information and carry out joint operations and investigations to combat transregional organized crime, while enhancing their human resource capacity through joint exercises and exchange of best practices.

During the meeting parties discussed current matters of cooperation in countering drug trafficking in Central Asia with a focus on increased efficiency of transregional cooperation with the European Union countries, and other topics of mutual interest.
