Participation of CARICC Director A. Yazlyyev at the high-level event on the occasion of adoption of the UNGA resolution on cooperation of Central Asian countries in combating illicit drug trafficking
A high-level event on the occasion of the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on “Central Asia's unified resolve and cooperation to effectively address and counter drug-related challenges” was held in Vienna on 26 July 2024.
The event was organized by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United Nations (Vienna) and the National Center on Drug Control under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It was co-organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Permanent Missions of Central Asian countries in Vienna.
Uzbekistan informed that the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on 4 June 2024 emphasizing willingness of the Central Asian countries to cooperate effectively in tackling problems related to drug trafficking.
Mr. A. Yazlyyev, CARICC Director, in his speech highlighted that relevance of the adopted resolution is dictated by current development of drug situation in the Central Asian region against the background of growing proliferation of synthetic drugs. He pointed out the possibility to actively use CARICC capacity at international level in accomplishing goals and objectives of the resolution.
