On March 10, 2022, in Abu Dhabi (UAE), a meeting was held between the Director of CARICC, Major General of Militia Miralizoda Rustam Aziz, and the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Major General Haiifa Harib Al Khyeli.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the state and development trends of the drug situation in the region of Central Asia and the Persian Gulf, and also exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between CARICC and the UAE Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Director of CARICC informed about the tasks and functions of the Center as an interstate body for promoting and coordinating international operations, as well as collecting, summarizing and analyzing relevant information. He highlighted the results of CARICC work in this area. He noted the great potential of the Center in expanding anti-drug cooperation at the regional and interregional level.

At the same time, the need to support the unique regional UNODC project on the creation of CARICC was emphasized. Despite its work in facilitating international operations and providing information and analytical support, the current funding of the Center remains inadequate. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the UAE reported on the ongoing work in the anti-drug sphere, including through the organization of training events to improve the skills of police officers.

The representative of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics Abdulrahman Alowais noted the importance of establishing direct contacts with CARICC, the materials of which were previously distributed on the platform of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, as well as within the framework of the implementation of UNODC projects.

During the conversation, the parties agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation, as well as to make wider use of the CARICC platform for joint anti-drug activities for the exchange of information, trainings and seminars
