Participation in the meeting of the CSTO

A meeting of the Working Group on Organization of Anti-Drug Operations and Other Areas of Activity within the scope of the Coordination Council of Heads of Competent Authorities for Countering Drug Trafficking of Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO KSOPN) was held on 26 August 2026 in Aktau, Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by heads and representatives of competent authorities of CSTO countries, representatives of the CSTO Secretariat as well as representatives of international and regional organizations in the field of combating illicit drug trafficking.

Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors (CARICC) was represented by a delegation from the Centre.

Participants discussed a wide range of topics related to development of cooperation in countering illicit drug trafficking, exchange of intelligence and analytical information, and improvement of mechanisms for cooperation among competent authorities of CSTO member states.

CARICC representative briefed participants on the Centre’s capabilities and the nature of its participation in the international anti-drug operation “Kanal – Kaspiyskiy Mayak,” underscoring CARICC readiness to assist with information and analytical support for joint activities and to strengthen cooperation among competent authorities of countries in the region.   

Participation of CARICC delegation was a key element in fostering international and regional cooperation, strengthening professional ties, and exchanging practical experience with representatives of relevant authorities and specialized organizations.

Constructive and substantive exchange of views on further development of cooperation in tackling illicit drug trafficking took place during the event, which helped strengthen mutual understanding and expand cooperation among attendees.

The meeting concluded with delegates emphasizing the need for further consolidation of efforts by competent authorities of CSTO member states in tackling illegal drug trafficking and expressing readiness to further expand practical cooperation. 

The event was organized and conducted at a high professional level, in a productive and constructive atmosphere. Organizers created necessary conditions for effective interaction among participants and for successful working sessions.

CARICC expresses gratitude to organizers for high standard of preparation and execution of the event and reaffirms its readiness to continue actively participating in international initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation and consolidating joint efforts in combating illicit drug trafficking.
