On participation in the thematic meeting of the 15th UN Congress on the use of technology and expanding women’s participation in public life

On 28 September 2026, within the framework of the 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Abu Dhabi, a CARICC delegation took part in the high-level thematic meeting “Using Technology to Strengthen Women’s Leadership and Expand Their Participation in Public Life.”

The meeting was devoted to the practical opportunities for using modern technologies to expand women’s participation in public life, crime prevention systems and decision-making processes.

For CARICC, this topic has direct practical significance. Women are an important part of the professional potential of law enforcement agencies, analytical units and mechanisms of international cooperation in countering illicit drug trafficking. Expanding their participation helps strengthen the expert and analytical potential of the states of the region.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the opportunities of digital technologies. For CARICC, this area is directly linked to improving information and analytical support for combating transnational drug crime, including the prompt exchange of information between competent authorities of Central Asian states, analysis of cross-border criminal links, and identification of new routes and methods of illicit drug trafficking.

Modern digital tools, including artificial intelligence, automated data analysis and visualization technologies, open additional opportunities for identifying patterns and early detection of new threats. In the context of the spread of synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances, such tools can be used to improve the effectiveness of regional monitoring and early warning.

The participation of the CARICC delegation in the thematic meeting made it possible to become acquainted with international experience and approaches to ensuring inclusive participation of specialists, digital transformation and human capacity development in the field of crime prevention.

The approaches obtained during the event are of practical interest for the further development of CARICC’s activities, including in terms of preparing analytical materials, improving regional information exchange, developing digital analysis tools and strengthening the professional potential of CARICC member states.

Participation in the event was also part of the active work of the CARICC delegation at the 15th UN Congress, which brings together representatives of states, international organizations and the expert community to develop practical solutions to counter organized and transnational crime. Among the Congress priorities are organized crime, illicit drug trafficking, cybercrime, the use of artificial intelligence and other modern technologies, as well as international cooperation.
