Meeting of CARICC and UNODC experts

A working meeting between representatives of the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors (CARICC) and the Information Centre for Researching and Analysing Transnational Threats Related to Drugs and Crime of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan was held on 10 April 2025 via videoconference.

Participants discussed relevant topics related to cooperation in combating illicit drug trafficking and exchanged views on specific aspects of drug trends in the region. Particular attention was paid to analytical support and in-depth research on specific types of synthetic drugs.

It was noted that CARICC is conducting additional research aimed at obtaining more detailed information on specific areas of illicit drug trafficking. In this regard, parties confirmed their readiness to continue joint analytical work.

Parties also reviewed preliminary findings from analysis of available data, including information on identification of specific synthetic substances posing a heightened risk to public health. They underlined the importance of comprehensive monitoring and timely information sharing.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to further develop cooperation and continue interaction in areas of analytical and informational support. Reports prepared based on research findings will be distributed to participating countries and international partners in accordance with established procedures.
