CARICC participates in the 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

On 26 September 2026, a CARICC delegation led by Director M. Khamidov is taking part in the 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Abu Dhabi.

The Congress is an important international platform for discussing contemporary crime threats, strengthening international cooperation, and developing effective approaches to preventing transnational organized crime.

For CARICC, issues related to the interconnection between drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organized crime are of particular importance. Modern criminal networks use cross-border routes and financial mechanisms, and their activities may be linked to corruption, money laundering, arms trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling, and cybercrime.

One of the pressing challenges remains the spread of synthetic drugs and new psychoactive substances. Their rapid emergence and changing production and distribution methods require prompt information exchange, the development of early warning mechanisms, and enhanced coordination among law enforcement agencies.

Digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and big data analysis occupy an important place in the modern crime-fighting agenda. Their use creates additional opportunities for identifying links between criminal groups, analyzing drug trafficking, and improving the effectiveness of information exchange.
