CARICC hosted an interagency meeting on Networking the Networks
Between March 27 and March 28, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, has organized an interagency meeting on Networking the Networks at CARICC facilities in Almaty.
The event was organized to establish effective networks to tackle transnational organized crime and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the competent authorities of CARICC member states, INTERPOL, the World Customs Organization, CSTO, the Gulf Police Cooperation Council (GCC-POL), the Gulf Criminal Information/Intelligence Centre (GCC-CICCD), ASEAN Association of Chiefs of Police (ASEANAPOL), the South Asian Regional Intelligence and Coordination Center on Transnational Organized Crime (SARICC-TOC), Heads and Experts of Headquarters of Regional Offices of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Central Asia and South Asia, as well as the leadership and staff of CARICC.
As part of the meeting, CARICC experts presented a report on the role of regional cooperation organization in facilitating the exchange of intelligence and coordination of multilateral counter-narcotics operations.
Participants of the event from the above-mentioned international organizations presented information on the latest developments in the framework of the Networking the Networks Initiative.
Representatives of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime presented long-term prospect plans to assist in regional cooperation aimed at interdicting financial flows and using international aspects of cooperation.
Along with this, practical results of activity of regional law enforcement organizations to counteract new challenges and threats were reviewed.
Following the event, Mr. G. B. Pustovitov, Police Colonel, Director of CARICC, suggested that the recommendations of CARICC be considered for establishing practical interaction among international and regional focal points and related organizations.
