Working meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China

On January 27, 2026, in Guangzhou, in parallel with an event dedicated to the development of cooperation in the field of drug testing technologies between China and Central Asia, a joint meeting was held between the CARICС delegation, led by Director M. Khamidov, Deputy Head of the UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan, Mr. Fedulov Alexander Viktorovich, Deputy Director of the Information and Technology Center  for Drug Control of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Mr. Li Weifang, Head of the Anti-Drug Department of the National Narcotics Control Committee of the MPS of the PRC Mr. Zhou Guangmin,, and Coordinator of the UNODC Regional Office for South-East Asia and the Pacific Ms. Sang Lily.

During the meeting, there was a lively exchange of views on the possibility of further developing cooperation between China, the UNODC, and the CARICС in countering contemporary challenges and threats posed by transnational drug crime, as well as on the need to consolidate and improve joint efforts in this area.

The CARICС delegation also briefed the Chinese side on the Centre's current initiatives and development plans aimed at improving the effectiveness of practical activities in combating drug trafficking and developing cooperation in this area. 

Overall, following the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in further developing cooperation between the UNODC, the PRC, and the CARICС in countering drug threats.
