Participation in a practical event in the field of drug testing technology between China and Central Asia

An event dedicated to the development of cooperation in the field of drug testing technology between China and Central Asia is currently taking place in Guangzhou (China).

The workshop is organized by the UNODC in conjunction with the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and is attended by laboratory officials and technical experts from China, Central Asia, and the UNODC, as well as a delegation from CARICC.

The event provides a platform for an active and comprehensive exchange of practical experience in the field of forensic drug analysis, particularly synthetic and new psychoactive substances.

It was noted that forensic science plays a key role in the fight against drugs by providing reliable scientific research data to objectively strengthen the evidence base of law enforcement agencies in the criminal justice process based on factual data.

As part of the event, China and Central Asian countries are taking concrete practical steps to strengthen scientifically sound, joint, and effective national measures to combat new types of drugs.

At the same time, it is noted that China's advanced experience in developing regional cooperation provides one of the foundations for strengthening and coordinating the activities of law enforcement agencies in the region, as well as developing anti-drug cooperation with partners, including through the use of the CARICС platform.

Further activities planned as part of the event include visits to Chinese national centers in the fields of laboratory research, prevention, education, and rehabilitation, as well as roundtable discussions to develop a further algorithm for cooperation in the field of forensic expertise.

Overall, the event is proceeding in a substantive, constructive, and very active dialogue.
